Lego Minecraft

I was playing around with the Lego Design Software (holy crap, not Minecraft?! Oh, wait…) tonight and came up with this:

Ladders Down My Hole! Hole!

The Legend of Minecraft

I’d like to see this done in a Survival (Alpha) game, either Multiplayer or Singleplayer. Still, a very cool 1:1 replica of the Legend of Zelda world done Minecraft style.

Dungeon 2
Dungeon 3

Official Texture Pack Support Coming Tomorrow!

I am beyond stoked. The texture modding community has been thriving for awhile now, producing some amazingly diverse works. Once you figure out how to install these packs, you realize how dead simple (and safe) it is. But, still, just complicated enough that I feel a lot of people have been avoid it.

Notch announced on Twitter that tomorrow he’ll officially support for texture packs (16 x 16, for now) and an easy way to install them. And it looks like you’ll be able to load them from within the game!

Welcome to The Compound

I’ve been a restartaholic since the update. Biomes have been making way, way too easy to restart. I’m always thinking, “maybe, just maybe the next world will be even cooler landscape.”

Anyways, to essentially force myself to stick with a world, I’ve started this Let’s Play project. Hopefully by documenting the experience, I’ll be able to stay focused a bit more.

In case you were wondering, this is a fresh world, and I’ll be playing on ‘easy.’ Why easy? Well, I suck at games — I don’t mind admitting it. Even though I post on the internet, it doesn’t mean I equate gaming skill to penis size.

I almost always play on easy. Minecraft was the exception, though. Normal was the sweet spot for me. Until the update hit and the spawn rate got all crazy. If the game goes back to a more sane level, I’ll be switching back, hopefully.

My first project was to build a small base directly around my spawn point. I had never done this before. It looks like shit. But it’s functional. Later, I’ll dedicate an evening to its beautification. But for now, I’m giving myself a pat on the back and calling it complete.

My next project will be to dig a shaft (5×5) to bedrock. Usually I create step-mines. Haphazardly. But I wanted to try a more controlled, and deliberate setup — but not necessarily the most efficient.

We’ll see how that goes.
